Aeon Mall

For the first time in the week, we stepped out of AIU soil and went to the biggest mall in Akita, which is the AEON mall.. From the outside, this seemingly old mall seems to promise little. But as we explored inside, we found out that it is really spacious and the shops carry a wide range of goods. There is the budget-friendly Daiso which stocked most of their goods at 105yen. There is also a large pet shop with apartment-friendly pets for sale, a huge bookstore and also a supermarket that stocked many different varieties of snacks and foods. I did the bulk of my shopping in Daiso in which I purchased many interesting tidbits and also went over to the photo-booth in the supermarket to get some photos printed from my handphone. The items sold in the mall ranged from the incredibly cheap snacks to the extremely overpriced watermelons! A single watermelon that retails for around S$4 in singapore costs about 2500yen (S$41) in the supermarket here! I also came across rows of gachapons and played with one of them to obtain some rilakuma stickers. There is also an interesting and extremely huge arcade in the mall which is about the size of Singaporean hypermarkets. Inside you find pachinko machines, air-hockey machines, slots, typical arcade shooting/joystick games and a huge variety of prizes waiting to be won at the overhead-grabber machines! This mall definitely exceeded my expectations and I hope to be able to visit it again! In the 4 hours that I was there, I only managed to cover about 70% of the mall, which is incredible considering that I'm quite proficient in walking through malls. ;)
