Departed AIU at 830am. Took the shutter bus to Wada station, train to Akita station, shinkansen to Tazawako station and bus to Lake Tazawa. Reached at around 12:30 noon and had lunch at a nearby shop. Took a couple of photos before asking for directions to the famous statue. A lady told us it was 10km away so we started walking in the correct direction. After around 3hours of walking and taking photos, we reached a clearing which provided opportunities to take beautiful and interesting photos while having a breather. After which, we continued on and started walking again. Past the 6km mark, we felt as if the journey was never going to end, plus it was getting late. We managed to get a couple to give us a ride to the statue and once we were there, the cameras went snapping! There was a bus that passed by while were there but little did we realise that was the last bus out of the area. By the time we realised, it was really late and almost getting dark. Thankfully, we managed to hitch a ride from another couple passing by. This couple was extremely generous and drove us all the way to Tazawako station, which was an approximately 20km journey! At tmr station, we managed to grab some delicious dinner from the only store left open. Took the shinkansen train to Akita station. We approached a couple of taxis for the estimated fare back to AIU but it was too expensive. When we tried to negotiate, their 'manager' came over and shouted at us. We decided to take the train to Wade station before getting a taxi there. We managed to get a taxi at Wada station and completed today's journey safe and sound! Praise the Lord for all His favour and blessings!!!
