Summer Festival Party 6th July

The japanese summer festival celebrates the chinese story of "The cowherd boy and the Fairy Princess". It tells about forbidden love and how the two meet once a year in the stars and whenever they meet, the milky way can be seen on earth. The actual festival is known as "Tanaka Festival" and is celebrated on the 7th of July of the Lunar Calender. Large streamers are hung from everywhere as a mark of celebration. In AIU, it is celebrated with a summer festival party. Everyone gathers at the Student Hall where there are games stalls, food stalls, a haunted house for students to visit and even a performance by the talented students which dance and sing to a list of songs ranging from english classics to japanese pop and korean pop. There was also a screening of a horror movie made by some of the students of AIU and it utilizes famous scare-tactics by typical japanese horror movies, even starring a long haired girl in white dress. There was also a competition where the students formed couples in which the girl tries to ask the guy out on a date. The atmosphere was really good and many of the girls wore their kimonos. They looked really elegant and pretty in their beautiful costumes!
